in Pushkar, bezochten we New Delhi.
Op Wikipedia wordt dit beeld omschreven als: ‘a sculpture of a water buffalo, 31 cm high and 25 cm long standing on a four-legged platform attached to four solid wheels’.
Harappan Bronzes from Diamabad
Total four bronzes of Harappan Age (circa 2000 BC) were discovered from Diamabad in Ahmad Nagar District of Maharashtra which includes one Chariot and three big animal figures.
All these four bronzes from Diamabad were solid cast by the lost-wax method, which is typical bronze casting technology of Harappa.
On the basis of presence of 1% Arsenic contents in these bronzes Dhavalikar (M.K. DHAVALIKAR) and present author are in the opinion that these four bronze of Diamabad also belong to late period (2000 BC).
“a sculpture of a rhinoceros 19 cm high and 25 cm long standing on two horizontal bars, each attached to an axle of two solid wheels”
“a sculpture of a chariot, 45 cm long and 16 cm wide, yoked to two oxen, driven by a man 16 cm high standing in it;”
Harappan Bronzes from Diamabad
This ornate bronze chariot from Diamabad has two main parts: one of which consists of a pair of bulls (appear like combined bull & horse) with a yoke on their neck and the second which possesses a plank with two solid wheels on either side with a charioteer (man) standing.
Both parts of this bronze are connected with a long pole fixed in chassis and the other end is inserted into yoke.
Two solid wheels are connected with an axle, in between, the chassis is marked by a plank with a frame on open work characterized by two vertical beams with curving tops secured by two cross bars.
The tall and slim charioteer resembling with the face of famous dancing girl.
“a 25 cm high sculpture of an elephant on a platform 27 cm long and 14 cm wide similar to the water buffalo sculpture, but axles and wheels missing;”
