Architectuur is belangrijk op deze reis door India.
Hier in Allahabad bezoeken we een park met daarin
een viertal mausoleums. Oogverblindend.
Niet in de laatste plaats door de binnenkant.
Laten we eens een kijkje gaan nemen.

We gaan te voet vanaf onze homestay naar het park. In de homestay troffen we deze handdoek aan. Grappig maar past niet helemaal in de tijd van het jaar.

Khusrubagh (Allahabad)
Originally, it was a pleasure resort constructed by Jahangir when he lived here as a prince.
It came to be known as Khusro Bagh after the tomb of Khusro, the elder son of Jahangir, was erected here.
It contains four beautiful tombs.
Each is decorated wirh fine Mughal frescoes with vaulted apartments which form the most conspicuous features of the garden.
The tombs of Khusrubagh are like a stone coffin richly carved with paintings on the walls and ceilings.
These tombs display the finest quality of ornamentation and paintings of Mughal style, particularly in that of Prince Khusru’s tomb.
A group of four tombs of prince Khusru, his mother, sister and Bibi Tamolan located in the centre of this spacious garden, which is enclosed by fortification walls and divided into squares, provided with channels and fountains
in typical Charbagh pattern of the Moghul gardens.
An imposing gateway on the southern side, built of sandstone is profusely decorated with designs having Persian inscription of Moghul Emperor Jahangir in Nastaliq character, which clearly indicates the date of its construction between AD 1605 – 1627.
The gataway is two-storeyed flanked by massive octagonal bastions crowned with small domed pavilions.

Oorspronkelijk was het park door Jahangir aangelegd voor het plezier.
Hij leefde hier toen hij prins was.
De naam Khusro Bagh kreeg het door het mausoleum van Khusro, de zoon van Jahangir.
Er zijn 4 mooie tombes.
Vooral de Mogul fresco’s aan de binnenkant.
De vier tombes zijn van Khusro, zijn moeder, zuster en Bibi Tamolan.

Dit is het park met in de verte de mausolea.

Tamolon’s Tomb
This fourth mausoleum of the complex locally known as Bibi Tamolon’s tomb stands in the extreme west in the series,
which has no sign of a tomb and is without any inscription.
It is sometimes associated with the Istanbul Begum of Fatehpur Sikri, but another version has it that a sister of Khusru had built it for herself but is buried elsewhere.

Het was een geweldige plaats om te zijn. Het warmst van de dag was weg. Veel lokale mensen komen naar Khusro Bagh om een praatje te maken en te genieten van de zon die ondergaat en voor het laatst die dag oranje straalt over de gebouwen. Links de Shah Begum tombe.
