National Archeological Museum, Florence, Cinerary statue for two, 400 – 380 BC. From Chianciano, Terme Pedata Necropolis.
Assyria as well as Phoenicia and Egypt’)
prachtige voorwerpen.
Between the 7th and the second half of the 6th century BC the use of the antropomorphic cinerary, the so-called canopus becomes comon: the lid takes the shape of the face, arms and anatomical details are indicated over the vase. From the ancient types with simple features or applied masks, the lid assumes the shape of a head. It also can have ear-rings or beard in the case of male canopus, the cinerary can be placed over a throne.
Canopo in impasto buccheroide testa lavorata a tutto tondo dettagli incisi, da Chiusi, first half 6th century BC.

En er gaat nog meer volgen.
