Een tijd terug liet ik al een doos met allerlei voorwerpen zien.
Een startpakket voor een cursus hobby edelsmeden.
De cursus bevat een aantal zaken waar ik naar op zoek was:
informatie over gereedschap, wanneer wat te gebruiken en hoe.
Die technieken daar kan ik me nu in trainen.
Tot nu toe zagen en vijlen. Straks nog veel meer.
Mijn eerste zaag- en vijlresultaten. Het onderste ronde voorwerp moet nog gevijld worden. Intussen is ons gevraagd een ontwerp te maken rond het thema ‘on the road’ en ‘sweetheart brooch’. Ik neem dat thema ruim op. Dat kun je zien in onderstaande schetsen.
During the course of the war, servicemen leaving home for the front line had to say goodbye to those they loved, and often left gifts and keepsakes for those they’d be missing. One popular gift was a small brooch depicting the service crest or regimental badge of the soldier in question. This gift was intend for soldiers to show that their home and their families would be in their hearts during their absence. The name ‘sweetheart’ can be misleading here, as it suggests that the item was only given to those in intimate relationships, but this isn’t the case. The sweetheart brooch was given to anyone the soldier would be leaving behind; therefore this could be their wife, parents, and even children. If it was given to a wife or a girlfriend, it was worn by that woman as a symbol of their pride and regard for their soldier.
Afgelopen zondag, onderweg naar en in Zwolle, voor de tentoonstelling Klimaat Expo ’22 en Neo Rauch in Museum de Fundatie, heb ik de eerste schetsen in een notitieboekje gemaakt.
Links een soort van definitief ontwerp, rechts zijn de golven uitgebreid met een boot maar dit is nog een tussenmoment.
