In de middag gaan we op zoek naar het tweede klooster.
!e poging:
na 2,5 kilometer lopen zijn we gestopt en teruggelopen naar Pelling.

Het Pemayangtsi-klooster bezocht.



De gebedsvlaggen verwelkomen ons.





Waar deze figuren van gemaakt worden en wat hun functie is, is me niet duidelijk geworden.














Geverfde stenen met daarin uitgehakt een spreuk (mantra) zouden we nog vaak zien.



Op de laatste avond in Sikkim eten we gezamenlijk met de reisgenoten
het Sikkim diner in het hotel:
= lokaal bier;
= tomatensoep;
= vegetable momos;

xe2x80x9cMomos are a kind of dumpling popular in Nepal, Sikkim and Tibet, similar to Chinese potstickers.

Momos are made of a simple flour and water dough,
white flour is generally preferred,
and sometimes a little yeast or baking soda is added
to give a more ‘doughy’ texture to the finished product.
The filling may be one of several mixtures, described below:

Minced beef, or beef and pork, combined with any or all of the following:
onions, shallots, garlic, and cilantro/coriander.
The mixture is usually spiced with salt, pepper, and often ground cumin.
Some people also add finely purxc3xa9ed tomatoes, though many variations are possible.
Vegetarian, predominantly made from onions and garlic, and frequently curried.
Finely diced vegetables are also added, as well as various spices.
Potato, somewhat similar to Indian samosas,
with small dice of firm potato in a tomato based sauce.
Cheese, usually a fresh cheese, this variety is common in Sikkim.
These fillings are then enclosed in a round of the above dough,
which is sealed in a circular fashion, resembling a pinwheel,
though it’s also not uncommon for them to be folded in half and sealed.

The resulting dumplings are then cooked by steaming over a soup
(either a stock based on bones or tomato-based),
which is served with the dumplings, as well as chilli sauce.



Momos are commonly made in Tibet, Kathmandu, Sikkim,
Kalimpong and Darjeeling.xe2x80x9d

= rijst, chicken masala, spinazie, boontjes, spinaziesoep
= ananas
= ginger tea (gember thee)

Opmerkelijk:
de mensen in Pelling (in heel Sikkim trouwens) zijn erg aardig.
Zo deed zich nog de volgende situatie voor die
om mij nu onbekende reden niet in mijn aantekeningen staat.
Toen we weg gingen naar Rumtek moesten we nog onze rekening betalen.
In plaats dat wij de mensen een fooi moesten geven
hadden ze de rekening naar beneden afgerond omdat we
ondanks het ontbreken van verlichting en het lange wachten,
toch in het hotel waren blijven eten.
Overigens kregen we bij het afscheid allemaal een xe2x80x98sjaalxe2x80x99.
Een geel stuk stof dat ik nog steeds aan mijn rugzak heb hangen.
